Turkish Airlines has restarted scheduled flights from Istanbul to Misrata, Libya’s third-largest city, after a decade-long suspension due to civil unrest. The route will operate three times a week — on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — with introductory fares starting at $349 from Istanbul and $249 from Misrata, valid for travel until November 30 if booked by September 9.
A welcoming ceremony at Misrata International Airport was attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tripoli Guven Begec, Libyan Transport Minister Muhammad Al-Shahoubi, and Turkish Airlines executives. Officials emphasized the flights’ role in strengthening commercial, economic and humanitarian ties while also underscoring Türkiye’s support for Libya’s stability and prosperity.
The Istanbul–Misrata connection fills a long-standing gap in regional travel and adds to Turkish Airlines’ growing presence in Libya, where it now operates 18 weekly flights. The resumed route is expected to stimulate tourism, trade and business exchanges between the two nations.
