Ruby Opens First Sweden Hotel in Stockholm’s Kungsholmen

Ruby Hotels has officially entered the Swedish market with the opening of Ruby Frida in Stockholm, a new 187-room property inspired by the city’s rich musical heritage and creative spirit of the 1960s.

The hotel, located in Stockholm’s Kungsholmen district near Fridhemsplan, becomes the brand’s first property in Sweden and the latest addition to its growing international portfolio.

First Ruby hotel in Sweden

Ruby Frida occupies a transformed 1960s landmark building that has been redeveloped into a mixed-use destination combining hospitality, offices, restaurants and retail spaces.

The property is situated just 10 minutes from Stockholm Central Station via public transport and approximately 40 minutes from Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Guests also have easy access to Gamla Stan, waterfront promenades, parks, cafés and some of the city’s most vibrant creative neighbourhoods.

The opening represents a significant milestone for Ruby Hotels as it continues expanding across major European cities with its design-led hospitality concept.

Inspired by Stockholm’s music history

The hotel’s design draws inspiration from Stockholm during the swinging sixties, a period that transformed the Swedish capital culturally, creatively and architecturally.

The area surrounding the hotel played an important role in the city’s musical evolution. Nearby stood the legendary Cheiron Studios, which later became one of the world’s most influential pop music recording facilities and helped launch the careers of internationally renowned producers and songwriters.

Throughout the property, Scandinavian modernism is blended with vintage-inspired details, geometric forms, warm wood finishes and curated references to Stockholm’s musical legacy.

Music remains a central part of the guest experience, with curated sound programmes, live performances, Marshall amplifiers and Bluetooth speakers available in guest rooms.

Design focused on modern travellers

Ruby Frida follows the brand’s “Lean Luxury” concept, focusing on thoughtful design and essential comforts rather than unnecessary extras.

Guest rooms are available in several categories, including Cosy, Lovely and Wow. Selected rooms feature private balconies with views across Stockholm, while some windowless rooms have been designed as quiet retreats for guests seeking a calmer environment in the heart of the city.

All rooms include signature Ruby features such as large beds with oversized duvets, rainfall showers, premium bath amenities and interiors inspired by the city’s cultural history.

Social spaces and 24-hour service

The hotel combines private accommodation with a range of communal spaces designed for social interaction and relaxation.

Guests have access to lounge areas, a bar serving cocktails and barista-made coffee around the clock, and flexible spaces that reflect the brand’s focus on blending hospitality, lifestyle and local culture.

Ruby says the property is aimed at cosmopolitan travellers looking for central locations, contemporary design and seamless technology-enabled experiences while exploring major urban destinations.

With Stockholm now added to its portfolio, Ruby continues to strengthen its presence across Europe, targeting culturally vibrant city destinations where design, creativity and local character play a central role in the guest experience.
