Dubai Rolls Out AI Parking Cameras To Automate Payments And Enforcement

More Than 700 Smart Cameras To Be Installed Across Dubai

Dubai has launched a major smart parking initiative with the installation of hundreds of AI-powered cameras designed to strengthen parking enforcement and simplify payments for drivers across the emirate.

Parkin, Dubai’s public parking operator, confirmed that more than 500 curb and pole-mounted cameras are being installed during the first phase of the rollout in Trade Centre 1, Burj Khalifa and Al Corniche.

A further 200 cameras will later be introduced across other areas of Dubai as part of the wider expansion plan.

AI Cameras Will Track Parking Spaces In Real Time

The new solar-powered cameras are equipped with automatic number plate recognition technology capable of capturing vehicle images and reading registration plates in real time.

The system will monitor parking occupancy levels and support automated payments through integration with the Parkin App and Parkin Wallet.

Authorities said the technology is expected to improve parking availability, increase turnover of parking spaces and help reduce congestion in busy districts.

Dubai Pushes Ahead With Smart Mobility Strategy

Parkin said the rollout forms part of Dubai’s broader push toward smart city infrastructure and digital mobility solutions.

“Adopting advanced smart technologies remains central to how Parkin continues to enhance parking management across Dubai,” said Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, chief executive of Parkin.

“This roll-out marks an important step in scaling our smart parking infrastructure and strengthening how customers interact with parking across the Emirate.”

AI Enforcement Already Expanding At Dubai Malls

The latest deployment follows a separate agreement between Parkin and Emaar involving three of Dubai’s largest shopping destinations – Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall and Marina Mall.

Under the partnership, Parkin’s automatic number plate recognition platform will integrate with Emaar’s existing systems to monitor the misuse of parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities.

When a vehicle parks in a dedicated accessible parking space, the AI-driven enforcement system automatically scans the registration plate to confirm whether a valid permit is linked to the vehicle.

If no valid permit is detected, the system flags the potential violation for review by a Parkin inspector.

Dubai Continues Expanding Technology-Led Urban Services

The rollout reflects Dubai’s continued investment in AI-enabled urban management systems aimed at improving efficiency, mobility and customer experience across public services.

Officials expect the smart parking network to expand further as the emirate continues integrating automation and real-time monitoring into transport and infrastructure operations.
