Polish Airports Group PPL has published what it says is the first comprehensive study of sustainability in Poland’s airport sector, in cooperation with KPMG experts. The report, called ESG activities at Polish airports, says airports are carrying out measurable operational and investment actions in response to growing market and regulatory demands.
The publication presents airports as complex systems that affect local communities, the economy and the planet, rather than as transport hubs alone. It says the sector is already taking steps aimed at long term environmental transformation across its operations.
PPL did not provide detailed figures in the short release, but said the analysis covers the wider airport industry in Poland and its response to environmental, social and governance expectations. The study is intended to show how airports are adapting to new standards in a sector facing pressure to reduce its impact and improve efficiency.
Airports have been under increasing scrutiny worldwide over emissions, energy use, waste and noise, with operators also expected to support local development and manage resources more carefully. In Poland, the report suggests that the shift is already under way and that airports are combining operational changes with investment plans.
The wording of the release indicates that the work is not limited to environmental measures alone. ESG, short for environmental, social and governance, also covers how organisations engage with workers, communities and regulators, as well as how they are run and overseen.
Polish airports have been expanding and modernising in recent years, and sustainability has become a more visible part of that process. The report is likely to be used by operators, policymakers and industry partners as a reference point for future decisions.
PPL said the publication is the first of its kind in the country for the airport sector, underlining the growing importance of sustainability reporting in aviation. The company has positioned the study as a sign that Polish airports are aligning with broader European and global expectations.
