Bydgoszcz Airport Traffic 29% Rise to 87,974 Passengers in Q1

Bydgoszcz Airport handled 87,974 passengers in the first 3 months of 2026, marking a 29% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

The airport said the result made the quarter a particularly strong one in its history. It did not provide further details on what drove the growth.

The figures point to continued demand for air travel at the Polish regional airport as it builds on traffic from last year. The latest numbers cover January to March and show a significant double-digit rise in passenger volume.

Bydgoszcz is among a number of smaller European airports that have reported solid recovery and growth in recent periods, helped by leisure demand, business travel and route expansion. In this case, however, the published update gave only the passenger total and year-on-year percentage change, without breaking down routes or airline performance.

The increase to 87,974 passengers means the airport added more than 20,000 travellers compared with the same quarter a year earlier. For regional airports, such a rise can be important because it supports airline confidence, airport revenues and the case for additional services.

Passenger numbers are watched closely by airports because they provide one of the clearest measures of market performance. A 29% year-on-year increase is well above modest seasonal variation and suggests a broad improvement in traffic through the terminal.

While the airport has not announced any new figures beyond the first quarter, the strong start to 2026 will be seen as a positive sign for the rest of the year. Travellers in and around north-central Poland may also benefit if airlines respond by maintaining or increasing capacity.

The latest report offers a simple but clear signal: Bydgoszcz Airport entered 2026 with momentum. The airport will now be looking to turn that early gain into sustained growth across the summer and autumn travel seasons.
