Oman Launches Eid Al Fitr Tourism Campaign to Boost Travel

As Eid Al Fitr approaches, Oman is positioning the holiday as more than a celebration – it is becoming a nationwide invitation to explore. A new tourism campaign is set to transform the festive period into a peak season for domestic travel, blending culture, adventure and economic strategy.

Led by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the initiative aims to encourage citizens and residents to rediscover the country’s diverse landscapes and heritage. From coastal escapes to mountain retreats, the campaign highlights Oman’s growing appeal as a multi-experience destination.

A nationwide programme of events

According to the Oman News Agency, the campaign will roll out across multiple governorates, each hosting a curated mix of cultural and entertainment activities during the Eid holiday.

Visitors can expect folklore performances, theatrical shows and interactive competitions, alongside food stalls and handicraft markets that spotlight local traditions. The events are designed to create a festive atmosphere while supporting small businesses and artisans.

Encouraging travel across regions

Beyond entertainment, the campaign has a clear economic objective – to stimulate domestic tourism and distribute visitor traffic more evenly across the country.

Families are being encouraged to explore historical landmarks, cultural attractions and shopping destinations, while adventure seekers can take advantage of Oman’s rugged terrain.

Activities such as mountain climbing, camping, cave exploration and maritime excursions are being promoted as key experiences, reinforcing Oman’s positioning as an outdoor and adventure destination.

Supporting economic diversification

The campaign is also aligned with broader national goals. By increasing travel during Eid, authorities expect a rise in hotel occupancy rates and stronger demand for tourism services across governorates.

This push supports Oman Vision 2040, which prioritises tourism as a pillar of economic diversification. Encouraging residents to travel domestically not only boosts local businesses but also strengthens the sector’s resilience and long-term growth.
