Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah Cover Hotel Costs for Stranded Tourists Amid Gulf Airspace Closures

Authorities in Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah have stepped in to cover accommodation costs for tourists unable to depart due to ongoing airspace closures across parts of the Gulf region.

The measures apply to visitors whose scheduled check-out dates have passed but who cannot leave the country because their flights have been canceled or suspended for reasons beyond their control.

Abu Dhabi to Reimburse Hotels Directly

In Abu Dhabi, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has instructed hotels to extend guests’ stays and submit invoices directly to the department for reimbursement.

This ensures that affected travelers are not required to pay out of pocket for additional nights caused by flight disruptions linked to regional airspace restrictions.

Ras Al Khaimah Implements Similar Support

Authorities in Ras Al Khaimah have confirmed comparable support measures, pledging to absorb accommodation costs for stranded tourists in the emirate. The initiative aims to reduce financial strain on visitors while reinforcing the destination’s reputation for hospitality and visitor care.

Dubai Orders Hotels to Extend Stays Under Original Terms

In Dubai, officials have directed hotels to extend stays for guests impacted by canceled flights and to maintain the same booking terms originally agreed upon. Hotels have been instructed not to evict guests under the current circumstances.

This means room rates and conditions must remain consistent with the initial reservation, without price increases.

Coordinated Response to Aviation Disruptions

The decisions come amid widespread flight suspensions and restricted airspace across the Gulf, which have left thousands of international travelers temporarily stranded.

By coordinating with the hospitality sector, UAE authorities are seeking to minimize disruption for visitors and uphold the country’s standing as a secure and reliable global tourism destination.
