Capella at Galaxy Macau has officially opened its doors, introducing a new layer of bespoke luxury within one of Asia’s most dynamic cultural and entertainment destinations. Set inside the Galaxy Macau integrated resort, the hotel is positioned as a carefully calibrated sanctuary – reflecting Galaxy’s signature golden allure while delivering Capella’s defining hallmarks of personalised service, cultural immersion and residential-style privacy.
“This strategic partnership positions Capella at Galaxy Macau as a distinctive expression of our brand vision: an intimate, residential retreat within an integrated resort context,” said Clive Edwards, Senior Vice President, Operations, Capella Hotel Group. “Our guests enjoy seamless access to Galaxy’s world-class amenities while experiencing the culturally immersive hospitality that defines Capella – from our Capella Culturists to curated experiences celebrating Macau’s rich heritage.”
Kevin Kelley, Chief Operating Officer, Galaxy Entertainment Group, described the opening as a new expression of Galaxy Macau’s service philosophy.
“Galaxy Macau was created as a destination where the world’s finest hospitality and ultra-luxury experiences come together,” he said. “We are delighted to reveal Capella at Galaxy Macau to our treasured guests from around the world; which showcases a new expression of our signature and ever-evolving ‘World Class Asian Heart’ service – that is not just personalised but anticipated; promising that true exclusivity is no longer about spectacle – but about scarcity.”
A forest canopy arrival
From the moment guests arrive, Capella at Galaxy Macau establishes a design narrative rooted in a jungle-inspired fantasy – one that blends nature, art and technology into a multi-sensory welcome.
The ground-floor lobby is defined by a chamber of light and running water framing the Tree of Life, described as the heart of the space, pulsating in coloured light. Round pools, lush foliage and carved wooden storks gather before a three-metre custom LED screen created by Hong Kong artist Laura Cheung, founder of homeware brand LaLa Curio. The digital installation acts as an immersive prologue, pulling guests into a living forest of animated flora and shifting atmosphere.
The experience continues upstairs on the first floor with a gilded lobby featuring specially commissioned works. Highlights include contemporary pieces by Bruno Moinard and American ceramic artist Jason Messinger, reinforcing the property’s intent to position art not as decoration, but as part of the hotel’s identity.
Sanctuary in the sky
Capella’s interiors were conceived by Paris-based design studio Moinard Bétaille, led by Bruno Moinard and creative partner Claire Bétaille, who were tasked with creating what the hotel describes as a “residential sanctuary in Macau.”
Rising 17 stories, the property features just 95 suites and penthouses, with interiors drawing inspiration from the tropical jungle as it evolves from dawn to dusk. Apartment-style one- and two-bedroom suites begin at 128 square metres and include private indoor plunge pools filled with natural light. Each suite also features hand-finished jungle-inspired wall designs by Laura Cheung, extending her lobby vision into the private accommodation experience.
At the top end, four-bedroom penthouses span nearly 700 square metres, anchored by a balcony with an infinity-edge lap pool and outdoor lounge designed to keep guests connected to nature year-round. Inside, features include a private winter garden, a wellness room with massage chair and TechnoGym equipment, a games room with foosball table, and a butler pantry – bringing a full private-residence sensibility into an ultra-luxury hotel context.
Two-bedroom penthouses offer many of the same bespoke elements, alongside a dedicated family room designed for guests travelling with young children.
Capella’s signature touchpoints
Core to the guest experience are Capella’s brand-defining rituals and human-led service model. Guests are welcomed by their Capella Culturist in the Capella Living Room – the signature social heart of every Capella property, reimagined here as a cocooning salon anchored by “Jungle Blue,” an abstract oil painting by Bruno Moinard.
Capella Culturists serve as guides to the destination, introducing guests to Macau’s heritage through daily Capella Rituals such as tea ceremonies, baijiu tastings and cultural introductions. Following the Living Room welcome, guests are escorted to their suites for in-suite check-in by their personal butler, with a dedicated team focused on anticipating preferences and orchestrating every detail of the stay.
Through Capella Curates, the hotel offers exclusive, destination-specific experiences designed to reveal different sides of Macau. Options include Macau from the Sky, a private helicopter journey over the city’s Portuguese architecture, UNESCO World Heritage sites and Cotai skyline, with panoramic views across the Pearl River Delta and a keepsake memento included.
Another experience, Historic Lai Chi Vun & Maritime Cuisine, explores the shipbuilding legacy and fishing traditions of Lai Chi Vun, a historic waterfront village known for its traditional shipyards. The itinerary concludes with visits to neighbourhood eateries serving local delicacies, linking heritage directly to culinary culture.
Culinary excellence, from comfort to collectors’ whisky
Dining at Capella at Galaxy Macau is positioned as a central pillar of the guest experience, with venues spanning high-end ambition, design-led comfort and ritual-driven nightlife.
The hotel has partnered with Hong Kong chef Vicky Cheng – the Michelin-starred chef and Krug Ambassador whose Wing restaurant is ranked number two on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025 – to bring a modern French dining concept to Macau. Chef Cheng’s independent fine-dining restaurant is scheduled to open in 2026.
In contrast, Botanica is led by Executive Chef Stephen Hsu and focuses on international comfort classics reinterpreted through Asian influences. The 48-seat restaurant is designed as an immersive indoor garden, featuring water reflections, climbing botanicals, imaginary jungle vines and soft, fungi-like ceiling forms, alongside sculptural works by Mexican artist Joel Escalona.
For spirits lovers, Pony & Plume is positioned as a whisky and cocktail bar with more than 650 whiskies curated across eight flavour profiles. The name captures the concept: the “pony” represents a precise measure of spirit, while the “plume” refers to the bar’s aromatic signature – a cloud of smoke used to infuse cocktails. The venue leans into ritual and precision, offering guided tastings, smoke-infused signatures, bar snacks and a private reserve of whisky casks for collectors and connoisseurs.
A new benchmark for contemporary luxury in Macau
Capella at Galaxy Macau arrives with a clear point of view: exclusivity defined not by scale or spectacle, but by scarcity, service and atmosphere. With only 95 suites and penthouses, a residential design language shaped by Moinard Bétaille, immersive art installations, personal butler service, and culturally driven programming through Capella Culturists and Capella Curates, the hotel positions itself as a rare, intimate retreat within Macau’s most high-energy resort environment.
In a city long associated with grandeur, entertainment and big-ticket experiences, Capella at Galaxy Macau is staking its claim on a different kind of luxury – one built around privacy, craftsmanship, and the feeling of being completely looked after, without ever needing to ask.
