Luxury Scotland, the consortium representing some of the country’s most prestigious hospitality and travel experiences, has announced the addition of two new members to its portfolio, including the newly launched luxury hotel Ardbeg House.
Located on the shoreline in the village of Port Ellen on Islay, Ardbeg House is a 12-room boutique property designed by acclaimed interior designers Russell Sage Studio. The hotel occupies the former Islay Hotel, which was acquired in October 2022 by The Glenmorangie Company from Roland Worthington-Eyre for an undisclosed sum.
Glenmorangie, which operates the Ardbeg single malt distillery, is a subsidiary of French luxury goods group LVMH. Since the acquisition, the company has completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment of the property, transforming it into a high-end destination closely linked to Islay’s whisky heritage.
The redesigned Ardbeg House now features a reworked bar with an outdoor courtyard, a ground-floor restaurant and 12 individually designed bedrooms, each drawing inspiration from the history of Islay and the Ardbeg brand. Guests also have access to two exclusive whiskies, one available only at the hotel and another offered both at Ardbeg House and the Ardbeg Distillery Visitor Centre.
Also joining Luxury Scotland is jetlogic, Scotland’s leading private aviation firm. Based in Edinburgh and operating globally, jetlogic provides bespoke private jet and helicopter charter services to clients in more than 100 countries and has been active in the sector for over 16 years. Its inclusion brings a private aviation dimension to the consortium, complementing its land-based luxury offerings.
Commenting on the new additions, Dorothy Welsh, chief executive of Luxury Scotland, said each member is chosen for both the quality of its offering and its contribution to Scotland’s luxury narrative. She added that Ardbeg House and jetlogic bring distinct perspectives while sharing a commitment to excellence and authenticity.
Luxury Scotland now represents a curated collection of more than 20 of Scotland’s most exclusive castles, historic hotels and distinctive destinations, positioning the country as a leading player in the global luxury travel market.
