Lufthansa has announced the suspension of its flights to Tehran until Wednesday, January 28, citing ongoing protests in Iran.
Earlier this week, the airline had indicated that services to Tehran could potentially resume as early as January 16, despite unrest that has continued since late December 2025. However, Lufthansa said the evolving situation prompted a reassessment.
“Due to developments in the current situation, Lufthansa decided on Monday to suspend its flights to Tehran until Wednesday, January 28, inclusive,” a company spokesperson said.
The airline added that it will continue to closely monitor the situation in Iran and adjust its operations accordingly.
Separately, Austrian Airlines also suspended flights to Iran earlier this month. According to Austrian aviation publication Austrian Wings, the carrier halted services until January 12 due to security concerns.
Protests in Iran began in late December 2025 following a sharp devaluation of the Iranian rial, triggering widespread demonstrations across the country.
