Shangri-La Group has signed an agreement with United Bodrum Turizm to manage a new luxury resort in Bodrum, strengthening the group’s presence in Turkey and the wider Mediterranean region.
The development, to be known as Shangri-La Bodrum, will be located in Yalıkavak on the north-western edge of the Bodrum peninsula. The resort will comprise 70 guest rooms and ten private villas, complemented by a private beach, positioning it firmly within the upper tier of the region’s luxury hospitality market.
Scheduled to open in the first half of 2029, the resort will sit close to Yalıkavak Marina and the nearby The One Bodrum development, an area that has emerged as one of Bodrum’s most sought-after destinations for high-end tourism and real estate.
Executives from both companies formalised the partnership during a signing ceremony held at Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong. The agreement marks Shangri-La Group’s second venture in Turkey, following its established presence at Shangri-La Bosphorus.
The move aligns with Shangri-La’s broader strategy to expand its footprint across Europe and the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on leisure-led destinations. Chee Wui Chua, executive director and chief financial officer of Shangri-La Group, said Bodrum’s natural beauty and growing international profile made it a compelling addition to the group’s portfolio. He highlighted the destination’s evolution into a global luxury hub and said the group was looking forward to introducing Shangri-La’s signature hospitality to the area.
United Bodrum Turizm chairman Güngör Çepni described the partnership as a milestone for luxury tourism in the region. He said the project aims to set a new benchmark for refined living while further enhancing Bodrum’s reputation as a destination of international distinction.
With Shangri-La Bodrum, the group continues to build momentum in Mediterranean leisure markets, reflecting sustained confidence in the region’s long-term appeal among high-end travellers and global luxury brands.
