Long-haul travel has emerged as the main growth engine for the airline division of Viajes Carrefour, which closed 2025 with record sales and year-on-year growth exceeding 20 percent, according to the company.
The performance was driven primarily by a sharp increase in demand for long-haul flights, particularly to destinations in Latin America. The company said the results reflect a combination of strategic airline partnerships, streamlined internal processes across its travel agencies, and the continued rollout of its technological transformation.
Ricardo González, Head of Business Development at Viajes Carrefour, said the figures confirm the central role of air travel within the company’s overall value proposition. He added that closer collaboration with airline partners has translated into “excellent results,” reinforcing the decision to prioritize air products as a core growth pillar.
To support this strategy, Viajes Carrefour intensified promotional activity across all channels during the year. Initiatives included social media campaigns, internal communications aimed at staff engagement, incentive programmes for its agency network, and a dedicated professional event where agency managers met with leading airlines to review product updates and preview developments planned for 2026.
Agency network expansion underpins growth
The focus on air travel has been strongly supported by Viajes Carrefour’s expanding agency network. According to company director Héctor Floro, the group plans to continue opening company-owned agencies through 2026, while accelerating the rollout of its franchise model, which he said will play a major role in future expansion.
Viajes Carrefour currently operates more than 400 points of sale, including both owned locations and franchises. The company intends to further increase business volume by developing new sales channels and opening additional agencies not only within Carrefour shopping centres but also on high-street locations, with a particular focus on Spain’s main cities.
Management believes that the combination of network expansion, deeper airline partnerships and a growing appetite for long-haul travel positions Viajes Carrefour to sustain momentum in its airline division as demand for international travel continues to recover and diversify.
