Finnair Expands Its European Network with 12 New Destinations for Summer 2026

Finnair is preparing for a major network expansion next year, adding 12 new destinations across Europe and strengthening its role as a key connector between the continent and the world. The Finnish carrier continues to build on its growth momentum, responding to both leisure and business travel demand.

Earlier this year, Finnair announced new routes to Alta, Catania, Florence, Kos, and Valencia. Now, the airline is opening ticket sales for seven more destinations: Kuressaare in Estonia, Luxembourg, Stavanger in Norway, Thessaloniki in Greece, Tirana in Albania, Turin in Italy, and Umeå in Sweden.

The new additions bring Finnair’s 2026 network to 93 destinations across Europe, along with 11 in Asia, seven in North America (including Toronto, launching in summer 2026), and two in the Middle East.

Christine Rovelli, Chief Revenue Officer at Finnair, said the expansion reflects the airline’s strategic focus on connecting Europe with the world through its Helsinki hub. “The new European destinations also connect new markets to our long-haul network, and the Lapland flights further strengthen our role in connecting the world to the wonders of Finnish Lapland,” she noted.

Among the highlights, Stavanger joins Finnair’s Norway network, providing strong business links to Asia through Helsinki. The route will operate via Arlanda in Stockholm, also serving travelers between Sweden and Norway. Umeå, meanwhile, will connect through a triangle route via Vaasa, improving travel between the two Finnish and Swedish coastal cities.

Luxembourg enhances Finnair’s presence among European capitals, appealing to both corporate and leisure travelers. Thessaloniki adds a new gateway to Greece’s culture and beaches, while Turin connects travelers to Northern Italy’s alpine and cultural attractions. Tirana marks Finnair’s entry into Albania, a fast-emerging destination close to the Adriatic coast. Kuressaare, the charming island town in Estonia, joins Finnair’s Baltic offerings, appealing to those seeking quiet nature and spa escapes.

Finnair’s expanded capacity is supported by its growing wetlease partnership with Danish carrier Jettime, ensuring flexibility across seasonal peaks.

In addition to these new routes, Finnair will also strengthen winter travel to Finnish Lapland. Starting in winter 2026, the airline will launch direct flights from Brussels and Zurich to Kittilä twice weekly, and from Paris to Rovaniemi twice weekly. These routes bring travelers closer to the Arctic Circle’s snowy landscapes, ski resorts, and the magical hometown of Santa Claus.

With these direct flights, Finnair continues to be the only airline offering consistent, year-round service to Finnish Lapland, making it easier than ever for travelers from across Europe to experience the north’s most captivating winter destinations.
