The situation with Turkish Airlines failing to deliver passenger baggage on flights to Russia is showing improvement, according to Russia’s Deputy Transport Minister Vladimir Poteshkin. Speaking to TASS, he said the ministry sees “positive trends” and does not plan to take measures against the airline at this time.
“We are in dialogue [with Turkey], so the situation is being resolved, and there are positive developments,” Poteshkin stated.
He emphasized that there are currently no reports in the media or at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport about baggage delays. “Just today we continued our dialogue with the Turkish authorities. Some of our recommendations have already been taken into account, and for others the Turkish side is waiting for certain actions from us, which we will take shortly. But the trend is clear—they have stopped under-delivering baggage, and now all passengers are traveling with their luggage,” he added.
Earlier, Poteshkin confirmed that the Russian Ministry of Transport was holding consultations with Turkey’s aviation authorities and Turkish Airlines to address the baggage delivery issues. Turkish officials had assured Moscow that the matter would be resolved.
The situation remains under monitoring by Russia’s Ministry of Transport, Rosaviatsia, and Vnukovo Airport.
