Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are charting new skies—this time to one of the lesser-known jewels of the Canary Islands. Beginning in 2026, UK travelers will be able to fly directly to La Palma, an untouched island famed for its star-filled skies, volcanic trails, and unspoiled coastline.
Announced as Jet2’s fifth destination in the Canary archipelago, the move reflects strong and consistent demand for year-round sun among UK holidaymakers—and positions La Palma as a rising alternative to its more famous sister islands.
A New Chapter for La Palma Tourism
Dubbed “La Isla Bonita” (The Pretty Island), La Palma has long lived in the shadows of Tenerife and Lanzarote. But now, thanks to Jet2, it’s stepping into the spotlight. The airline’s new schedule includes two weekly flights from Manchester Airport, beginning 3 April 2026, and exclusive services from London Stansted, starting 26 October 2026.
The launch marks a first: La Palma will now be directly accessible from London Stansted, exclusively through Jet2.
“This incredible island is a paradise for hikers, stargazers, and nature lovers,” said Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays. “The addition of La Palma allows us to open up a truly special destination that offers a different kind of Canary Island experience.”
Year-Round Sun, Scenic Trails, and Starry Skies
Unlike its bustling neighbors, La Palma is a UNESCO-designated Biosphere Reserve. With its rugged peaks, subtropical forests, and dark sky parks, the island appeals to travelers looking for adventure and authenticity.
From coastal towns like Los Cancajos to the volcanic landscapes of Puerto Naos and Tazacorte, Jet2’s holiday packages now include a curated mix of 2- to 4-star hotels across the island—ideal for both budget and mid-range getaways.
“We’re already seeing strong interest from travelers who want more than beaches,” said Heapy. “La Palma delivers dramatic landscapes, rich culture, and that off-the-beaten-path feel.”
Boosting La Palma’s Global Reach
The new connection is also a major win for local tourism authorities. “The UK market is one of our key priorities,” said Raquel Rebollo, Minister of Tourism for the Cabildo of La Palma. “This direct link shows our island’s potential to grow as a premium tourism destination.”
Jet2’s expansion into La Palma comes amid a broader shift in post-pandemic travel preferences. British holidaymakers are increasingly seeking locations that offer nature, space, and low crowds. La Palma ticks all those boxes—and does so with a climate that stays mild even in winter.
Canary Islands: A Jet2 Stronghold
With the addition of La Palma, Jet2 will operate routes to all five of the major Canary Islands, alongside Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura. The airline’s growing presence underscores the archipelago’s enduring appeal as a reliable, sun-drenched escape—particularly in cooler months.
Jet2holidays, the company’s tour operator arm, will support the launch with a full suite of hotel and resort options, adding flexibility for different travel styles and budgets.
Looking Ahead
La Palma’s entry into Jet2’s portfolio represents more than just a new route; it’s a sign that UK leisure travel is evolving. Off-grid escapes, local charm, and slow travel are no longer niche—they’re mainstream. And Jet2 is positioning itself to meet that demand.
The first flights may still be months away, but for many travelers, the discovery has already begun.
