Porter Airlines has officially launched a nonstop route connecting Ottawa and Victoria, offering travelers a convenient new option for crossing the country. This marks the first and only direct flight service between the two cities, with roundtrip flights running four times a week to start and expanding to daily service beginning June 16.

The new route bridges Canada’s capital with the capital of British Columbia’s Vancouver Island, and it’s expected to draw both business and leisure travelers. The airline describes the connection as a “natural” one, linking two cities rich in national heritage and tourism appeal.

Flights from Ottawa International Airport will depart at 8:40 a.m. local time, arriving in Victoria International Airport at 11:00 a.m. Return flights leave Victoria at 11:55 a.m. and land in Ottawa at 7:40 p.m., making the schedule convenient for both early departures and evening arrivals.

This route is operated using Porter’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, a 132-seat jet designed for comfort. The cabin features a two-by-two seating layout, meaning no middle seats — a welcome change for travelers who prioritize space and ease during their journey. With no middle seats and a quieter, more fuel-efficient aircraft, Porter is emphasizing both passenger comfort and sustainability.

Andrew Pierce, vice-president of network planning and reporting at Porter Airlines, noted that this new route reinforces the airline’s commitment to connecting important Canadian cities. He described the service as “a more efficient and enjoyable way to move across the country.”

Elizabeth Brown, president and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority, called the route a “welcome new connection” that opens up new opportunities for both cities. She highlighted that the flight not only brings more visitors to Vancouver Island but also makes it easier for island residents to explore the heart of the nation.
