airBaltic has officially kicked off its winter 2024 season, unveiling nine new routes from its bases in Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius. Five of these routes will depart from Riga, with the winter season celebrated by a special inaugural flight from Riga to Madeira, Portugal, which took off on October 28, 2024. The flight duration from Riga to Madeira is approximately 5 hours and 55 minutes.
Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic, highlighted the airline’s dedication to expanding its network and meeting travelers’ needs this season. “As we enter the winter season, our focus remains on meeting passenger demand while strengthening airBaltic’s role as a key connector in the Baltics. These new routes reflect our commitment to offering more travel opportunities for both leisure and business travelers, enhancing connectivity across the region and beyond,” Gauss stated.
This winter, airBaltic’s offerings include sunny escapes to Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, and Madeira for those looking to avoid the cold. Meanwhile, winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy direct access to ski destinations like Innsbruck, Kittilä, and Oslo Torp. “There is something for everyone,” Gauss added, “ensuring a perfect winter getaway tailored to different preferences.”
Gauss also acknowledged the valuable partnership with RIX Riga Airport, which has supported airBaltic’s growth for nearly three decades. “We are proud to celebrate this milestone as part of the airport’s 50th anniversary and look forward to continuing our strong partnership,” he said.
Laila Odiņa, Chairperson of the Board of RIX Riga Airport, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing airBaltic’s role as a strategic asset for regional connectivity and economic growth. “airBaltic not only enhances our competitive advantage in the region but also propels the future development of Riga Airport as a growing hub in Northern Europe,” Odiņa remarked.
