The Polish brand Gerlach, with a history of over two centuries, has joined the list of Polish companies featured on LOT Polish Airlines flights. A special collection has been created for LOT, enhancing meal service in LOT Economy class on medium- and long-haul scheduled flights. The cutlery is already available on selected routes and will gradually be introduced on additional flights.
“At LOT Polish Airlines, we believe that moments spent traveling are unique, providing new experiences and creating lasting memories. That’s why we strive to offer our passengers a high-quality onboard service, which is our hallmark and fulfills our promise of comfort. In this context, we are pleased to launch our collaboration with Gerlach – a brand synonymous with elegance and present in Polish homes for centuries. I believe that the meals served onboard will now taste even better,” said Izabela Leszczyńska, Director of Product Development and Customer Experience.
The new LOT cutlery was created through a multi-stage process, including tests to check resistance to scratches, mechanical damage, and durability of the finish. As with all tableware used in airline service, the cutlery had to meet weight criteria to avoid generating excessive load and thus increasing fuel consumption. The result is a collection made from polished, nickel-free stainless steel, branded with the airline’s logo. With 18% chromium content, the cutlery is resistant to corrosion and highly durable. A single LOT cutlery set weighs only 58 grams.
The introduction of reusable cutlery in the economy class also aligns with LOT’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact. By eliminating single-use cutlery, the airline expects to reduce waste from flights by around 18.5 tons annually.
“We are delighted that two well-known and respected Polish brands, Gerlach and LOT Polish Airlines, have joined forces to create this unique project. We hope that the dedicated ‘Flight’ cutlery line will further improve service quality and passenger comfort. Quality has always been our priority, and for many years, our mission has been to make life easier in the kitchen and dining room, and now also during travel, of which we are very proud,” said Piotr Piechota, CEO of Gerlach S.A.
