Turkish Airlines carried 57.4 million passengers in the January-July period, reflecting a 2.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The number of international passengers rose by 2.9 percent year-on-year in the first eight months to 36.3 million, while domestic passenger numbers grew by 1.8 percent annually, reaching slightly over 21 million.
Turkish Airlines expanded its fleet during this period, increasing from 428 aircraft to a total of 462 jets as of August. The number of destinations served by the airline rose from 339 to 342, and seating capacity saw a 9.6 percent year-on-year increase, reaching 96,075.
The total number of hours flown by the carrier increased from 1.14 million to 1.22 million in the January-August period. Additionally, Turkish Airlines handled 1.33 million tons of cargo and mail, marking a significant 28.4 percent increase.
In August alone, the airline carried a total of 8.4 million passengers, representing a 3.2 percent decline from the same month last year. The number of international passengers decreased by 1.3 percent year-on-year to 5.42 million, while domestic passenger numbers fell by 6.5 percent to 3 million.
