The Indian government has issued an urgent advisory for its citizens residing in the Bryansk, Belgorod, and Kursk regions of Russia, urging them to evacuate these areas. The advisory, which was released by the Indian Embassy in Moscow, recommends that Indian nationals temporarily relocate to other, safer parts of the country.
The advisory was published on the embassy’s official website and highlighted growing security concerns in the aforementioned regions. The statement read, “In view of recent security incidents in Bryansk, Belgorod, and Kursk regions, Indian nationals are advised to take necessary precautions and temporarily relocate outside these regions.”
The embassy has also advised Indian citizens in these regions to stay in contact with the diplomatic mission for further assistance and support.
Rising Tensions in the Kursk Region
The advisory comes amid escalating tensions and security incidents in the Kursk region. Last week, on August 6, a significant security breach occurred near the border of the Kursk region, resulting in a series of violent clashes. Reports indicate that Russian military forces and local authorities were caught off guard, leading to substantial losses. A significant amount of Russian military equipment was destroyed, and numerous soldiers were captured, including conscripts. Casualties were also reported, further raising concerns about the stability of the area.
The situation in the region remains volatile, with the potential for further escalations. Indian nationals are urged to prioritize their safety and take immediate action in line with the embassy’s recommendations.
