Lufthansa Takes Flight to Seattle

Lufthansa has inaugurated its new route from Munich to Seattle, marking the first-ever direct passenger service between the two cities. This exciting addition brings the airline’s total North American destinations served from Munich to five, including San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver.

The inaugural flight carried 218 passengers on Friday afternoon. Lufthansa will be operating this route three times a week using the Airbus A350, known for its sustainability features.

Seattle, the “Emerald City,” offers a captivating blend of urban charm and natural beauty. With its abundant green spaces, stunning coastal location, and proximity to majestic national parks like Mount Rainier, Seattle is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Beyond its natural attractions, the city boasts a thriving economy, fueled by major corporations like Amazon and Microsoft, and a vibrant cultural scene.

This new route further strengthens Munich Airport’s position as a major gateway to North America. With a record-breaking 16 North American destinations now served, Munich Airport offers travelers unparalleled connectivity across the continent. The United States remains Munich Airport’s most significant long-haul market, exceeding pre-pandemic passenger numbers since 2023. Overall air traffic continues its upward trajectory, with passenger volumes to the US in May 2024 already up 20% compared to the same period last year.
