Viking has announced the float-out of its latest Nile River ship, the Viking Sobek, which is set to begin sailing this fall. The Viking Sobek will be the sixth vessel in the company’s growing fleet on the Nile, joining Viking Ra, Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, and the chartered ship Antares. Another new addition, Viking Hathor, is also scheduled to commence its voyages in August this year.
The Viking Sobek, like its sister ships, is designed to provide an exceptional cruising experience on the historic Nile River. It features 41 staterooms, accommodating up to 82 passengers. Onboard amenities include Viking’s signature indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, numerous lounge areas, libraries in both common areas and cabins, and a swimming pool, ensuring guests can relax and enjoy their journey in comfort.
The new vessel will operate the cruise segment of Viking’s popular 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary. This journey begins with a three-night stay in Cairo, followed by a seven-night river cruise from Luxor to Aswan, and concludes with an overnight stay in Cairo. This itinerary offers guests a comprehensive exploration of Egypt’s ancient wonders and modern marvels.
For those looking to extend their adventure, Viking offers several land packages. These include a four-night pre-cruise extension in London, a three-night pre-cruise extension in Istanbul, or a four-night post-cruise extension in Jordan, providing additional opportunities to explore and experience more of the region’s rich history and culture.
