European tour operators are rerouting their clients from Southwind Airlines to flights operated by other airlines due to the EU airspace ban, reports Turizm Guncel.
“Tour operators, taking action following the ban imposed by the European Union, have started transferring their quotas from Southwind to other airlines. Southwind’s agreements with operators were made for small amounts since the company was new to the market. For this reason, tour operators easily transferred their quotas to other airlines,” the publication writes.
As the newspaper notes, German tour operators Schauinsland-Reisen, FTI, and Coral Travel Ferien sent tourists on Easter holidays on flights operated by other airlines.
British tour operator Holiday Best, which signed an agreement with Southwind Airlines last year, also announced that it would transfer its passengers to flights operated by other partner airlines.
For the summer season, Southwind Airlines had contracts for charter flights to Turkish resorts from Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich, and Stuttgart.
On March 29, the European Union banned Turkish airline Southwind Airlines due to suspicions that Russia effectively controls the carrier.
