Finnish geographer and cartographer Topi Tyukanov has created an interactive map showing the birthplaces of the most famous people in the world.
In total, 2.3 million people are marked on the map. The map shows the names of politicians, figures of culture, science and sports. So, for example, Mikhail Bulgakov became the main celebrity of Kyiv, and Calabria is primarily known for Gianni Versace.
In addition, thanks to the map, you can clearly see where this or that celebrity was born. For example, Mila Kunis’s birthplace is Ukraine, Aristotle Onassis was born in Smyrna (Izmir), Millie Bobby Brown was born in Spain, and Russell Crowe was born in New Zealand.
To create a map of Topi Tyukanov, he used data from Wikipedia and Wikidata. To calculate a person’s fame, he took into account many factors, including the average number of views of a celebrity article and its length.
