Finland has taken an official decision to limit the acceptance of visa applications in Russia.

Finland will limit the number of accepted applications to 10% of the current level. Finland currently receives about a thousand visa applications from Russia per day. Accordingly, according to the new rules, it will be only 100 applications per day.

The restriction comes into force at the beginning of September.

The government is also supporting a new type of humanitarian visa, which will make it easier for civic activists and journalists to travel to Finland.

Finland and the Baltic countries intend to present a joint EU decision to limit Russian tourist visas.
