Frontier Airlines will launch nonstop flights from Tampa International Airport (TPA) to Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) in the Dominican Republic as well as Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ). Additionally, the airline will begin offering daily nonstop service to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU). Each of these new routes, plus previously announced nonstop service to Cancun, Mexico (CUN), will begin this summer. To celebrate, America’s Greenest Airline is offering fares as low as $99.
“We are pleased to significantly expand our international service from Tampa,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president commercial, Frontier Airlines. “We will now offer more nonstop flights from Tampa to destinations in Latin America than any other carrier. The new service to San Juan will provide robust options for those heading to Puerto Rico to visit friends and family or to enjoy the island’s beautiful beaches and warm hospitality.” Shurz added, “We have become one of Tampa’s fastest growing carriers and continue to add destinations to our route map, supported by the crew base we established at TPA last year, along with continued hiring of area residents.”
“Frontier has been an important part of TPA’s recovery and growth over the past year and we’re excited to now see this partnership expand into international service for our passengers,” Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said. “We expect these flights to be extremely popular here and a welcome addition to our roster of nonstop destinations.”
British Airways’ first US transatlantic flight from Gatwick took off bound for Tampa, Florida.
