Hilton to Open Hotel in Yokohama

Hilton today announced the signing of a franchise agreement with Ken Corporation Ltd. to launch Hilton Yokohama in autumn 2023. The hotel will be situated in Minato Mirai 21, a seaside urban area in central Yokohama within the Kanagawa prefecture. This marks Hilton’s first property in Yokohama, the second largest city in Japan after Tokyo.

Guy Phillips, senior vice president, development, Asia & Australasia, Hilton, said, “We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Ken Corporation with the signing of Hilton Yokohama following many years of shared success with Hilton Guam Resort & Spa. Appealing to both leisure and business travelers, Yokohama is home to a number of manufacturing companies and R&D hubs, plays host to international conferences and corporate events and leisure options in the destination are aplenty with opportunities for sightseeing, entertainment, and dining. Our strong partnership, building on the expertise of Ken Corporation, as well as the strength of Hilton’s commercial engine, will enable us to offer world-class services for guests visiting Yokohama when it opens in two years.”

Hilton Yokohama is approximately 20 kilometers from Haneda Airport and conveniently located within a 10-minute walk from Yokohama station offering excellent access to popular sightseeing spots such as Japan’s largest Chinatown, Kamakura as well as Tokyo metropolitan area.

Hilton Yokohama is a part of Ken Corporation’s mixed-use development project “K-Arena” in Minato Mirai 21. The project site, named “Music Terrace” and set to open in autumn 2023, includes one of the world’s largest music venues, “K-Arena Yokohama” — which can accommodate approximately 20,000 people, the “K-Tower Yokohama” office building and the Hilton Yokohama. The 339-room hotel will offer facilities including a fitness center, an executive lounge and meeting spaces. Guests will have a selection of dining options from the hotel’s all-day dining, a specialty restaurant and a café and bar lounge.

Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president, brand management, Asia Pacific, Hilton said, “For over a century, Hilton Hotels & Resorts has proudly welcomed the world’s travelers. With nearly 600 hotels in the most sought-after destinations across six continents now, today the brand remains renowned for the exceptional service and hospitality it provides every guest who walks through its doors. We are delighted to launch our flagship presence in Yokohama in a strategic location in Minato Mirai 21 which is the ideal base for both business and leisure travelers when they travel to Yokohama.”

“We are delighted to welcome Hilton, a global leader in the industry, to Yokohama and the ‘K-Arena’ project,” said Shigeru Sato, CEO of Ken Corporation. “We’re confident that the Hilton Yokohama will serve as a key driver to Yokohama’s future growth and urban development, which will include the world’s largest concert hall. Situated conveniently near the railway station and office districts, the hotel offers a new destination for domestic and international guests to socialize and enjoy their time, all against a magnificent waterfront backdrop.”

The hotel is also part of Hilton Honors, the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton’s 18 distinct brands.
