Finland Opens Borders for Vaccinated Travellers

Finland officially opened its borders today, July 26, for vaccinated travelers worldwide, after been isolated from the world for the last 17 months.

As of 26 July 2021, travel to Finland is possible for all travelers who meet the following health requirements:

  • You can present a certificate of having received the full COVID-19 vaccines 14 days prior to arriving in Finland. There is no mandatory testing for people who meet this requirement. So far, the country has approved the following COVID-19 vaccines for entry: Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, CoronaVac and Sinopharm.
  • You can present a certificate showing that you have recovered from the COVID-19 disease within 6 months prior to arriving in Finland. There is no mandatory testing for people who meet this requirement.
  • You have received one COVID-19 vaccine shot at least a 14 days prior to arriving in Finland. In this case, you must also take a COVID-19 test 3–5 days after arriving in Finland. You must avoid contact with others and remain at home or in your place of accommodation until you receive confirmation of a negative test result. Please refer to FINENTRY for information on COVID-19 testing locations. Please refer to the Finnish institute for health and welfare for the approved vaccines.
  • You can present a certificate of a negative COVID-19 test taken before entering Finland. In this case, you must also take a COVID-19 test 3–5 days after arriving in Finland. You must avoid contact with others and remain at home or in your place of accommodation until you receive confirmation of a negative test result.   • Children born in 2005 or thereafter are not required to take part in a health examination or a COVID-19 test.

Until 22 August, Finland welcomes residents of countries/regions where the COVID-19 incidence level is less than 10 cases per 100 000 inhabitants to travel to Finland for leisure. Travellers arriving from Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Turkey remain under travel ban until August 22.
