AirAsia Group Temporarily Hibernating Its Fleet

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic that has led to extensive and increasing border restrictions imposed by various countries, AirAsia Group announces that it is temporarily hibernating most of its fleet across the network.

This announcement is made for and on behalf of, and as agreed with, the operating airlines under the AirAsia Group and the AirAsia X Group as follows:

AirAsia Malaysia: Temporary suspension of all international and domestic flights from 28 March 2020 to 21 April 2020.

AirAsia Philippines: Temporary suspension of all international and domestic flights from 20 March 2020 to 14 April 2020 during the quarantine period in Luzon, as well as in other parts of the country.

AirAsia Thailand: Temporary suspension of all international and domestic flights from 22 March 2020 to 25 April 2020; domestic operations continue at reduces frequency.

AirAsia Indonesia: Significantly reduces international flight frequency; domestic operations continue at reduces frequency.

AirAsia India: Temporary suspension of all international and domestic flights from 25 March 2020 for 21 days.

AirAsia X Malaysia: Temporary suspension of most flights from 28 March 2020 to 31 May 2020.

AirAsia X Thailand (XJ): Temporary suspension of all flights from 16 March 2020 for a period of 3 months. DMK-INC suspended until April 19, 2020.

All affected guests are being immediately notified by email and SMS. They have the option of converting their flight booking into a credit account that is valid for future redemption for 365 days or moving their flights for an unlimited number of times without any charges to another date prior to 31 Oct 2020.

“We believe this temporary fleet hibernation is the right thing to do to ensure the well-being of our guests and employees, which will remain as the top priority of our business during this challenging time,” says the statement.
