A brand-new luxury lounge will soon be under construction at Newcastle International Airport.
The Airport’s new premium lounge will boast high-end hospitality and fantastic views of the runway – and is set to open in time for summer 2020.
The stunning facility, which can seat up to 100 passengers, will feature an upmarket bar area and will serve a range of high-quality food for indulgence ahead of any flight.
The superior lounge area will create a flexible environment to meet the needs of a variety of travellers – with a place to relax and socialise for leisure passengers.
Dedicated working zones will also be incorporated for business travellers, with desk space, charging ports and super-fast WiFi – so that commuters can have a quiet office-style area to carry out important tasks before stepping on the plane.
The new lounge has been specially designed by North East-based company, Ward Robinson, to be a comfortable yet luxurious communal space – providing a sense of calm.
Nick Jones, Chief Executive at Newcastle International Airport, said: “Airport lounges are becoming increasingly popular, and with the introduction of this new premium lounge in summer 2020, this will ensure we are satisfying customer demand.
“We are working closely with the designers to create a high-quality facility that responds to range of customer requirements including our business customers, with super-fast WiFi and a dedicated working zone.
“Customers will be able to enjoy panoramic views of the runway, with an excellent range of food and drink on offer – we look forward to unveiling more information in the coming months, including the name.”
Passengers will be able to pre-book access into the lounge from January 2020 via the Newcastle Airport website or the NCL Airport App.
Councillor Iain Malcolm, Leader of South Tyneside Council and Chair of the LA7 shareholders, added: “Through this new development, the Airport is showing that the focus at the heart of its strategy is to put passengers first and create the best possible customer experience.
“The new lounge is evidence that the Airport is constantly investing and going from strength to strength – whilst at the same time generating millions of pounds for the local economy.
“This type of investment is the reason that Newcastle International Airport has been voted named the ‘Best Airport’ for two years running.”
The new lounge will be the airport’s third executive lounge, alongside the Aspire Lounge and the BA Lounge.
