What Is a Jet Bridge?

A jet bridge, also known as a jetway, aerobridge, or passenger boarding bridge, is a movable connector that extends from an airport terminal gate to an aircraft, allowing passengers to board and disembark the plane without having to walk on the tarmac. Jet bridges are typically equipped with an enclosed walkway, often with glass windows, that provides a safe and weather-protected passage between the terminal and the aircraft. They are commonly used in commercial aviation to streamline the boarding and deplaning process and enhance passenger convenience and comfort.
