Sri Lanka’s Bloody Easter Sunday

The seven bombings hit several high-end hotels and churches across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday morning, killing at least 138 people and injuring 560.

The blasts took place in locations across the country, mostly in the capital, Colombo, but also in Kochchikade, Negombo, and Batticaloa at three churches, three hotels, and Zoo.

The churches that were attacked are St Anthony’s Shrine in Kochchikade, St. Sebastian’s church near Negombo and Zion Church in Batticaloa. The hotels that were attacked are the Shangri-La, Cinnamon Grand and Kingsbury hotels.

At least 20 foreigners are among the dead in Colombo, according to hospital Director General Anil Jasinghe.

Police in Sri Lanka will impose an island-wide curfew starting Sunday from 6 pm local, finishing at 6 am local on Monday morning.

In light of the recent events, various carriers flying to Colombo are offering full waiver on cancellation and rescheduling charges.
