Royal Jordanian to Resume Flights to Moscow

Royal Jordanian plans to resume direct flights to Moscow in April, aiming to boost tourism to the Red Sea resort. This information comes from Interfax.

“This spring, Royal Jordanian’s plans to resume flights to Moscow will finally be realized. According to the plan, flights are expected to start from April 1, but the launch may be delayed by a couple of weeks. The resumption of direct air communication will significantly stimulate demand. We anticipate a fairly rapid recovery of the lost volumes of Russian tourist flow,” said Mazd Abu-Arkoub, a representative of Jordan’s tourism management.

Tickets for direct flights are not yet on sale, but they are expected to be available shortly.

As Abu-Arkoub noted, one of the most convenient flight options to Jordan for Russian tourists currently is Jazeera Airways flights from Moscow to Amman with a layover in Kuwait.

According to Yana Vaziri, the regional representative of Jazeera Airways in Russia, the airline is also working on launching flights to Aqaba this spring. It is anticipated that these flights will increase Russian tourists’ interest in vacationing at the Red and Dead Seas.

According to Jordan’s tourism management, Russian tourist arrivals in 2023 reached 24.1 thousand, a 50% increase from the previous year. In the pre-pandemic year 2019, tourist arrivals were nearly three times higher at 62 thousand.
