McDonald’s Plans to Increase the Number of Restaurants to 50,000 by the End of 2027

McDonald’s Corp., the American fast-food giant, is set to increase the number of its quick-service restaurants worldwide to 50,000 by the end of 2027. This ambitious goal represents the fastest growth period in the company’s history, according to a press release.

As of now, McDonald’s operates in over 100 countries with more than 40,000 restaurants worldwide.

In a significant move, the company announced on Wednesday a strategic partnership with Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., to implement cloud technologies and solutions related to generative artificial intelligence across its restaurant network.

Additionally, McDonald’s aims to expand its loyalty program from the current 150 million participants to 250 million by the year 2027.

The company plans capital investments totaling $2.5 billion for the year 2024, with intentions to increase these investments annually by $300-500 million until the end of 2027.

Despite these ambitious plans, McDonald’s stocks experienced a marginal 0.1% decrease in value during Wednesday’s trading. However, since the beginning of the current year, their overall value has seen an 8.6% increase.
