Joby Aviation to Launch Air Taxi in Dubai

Joby Aviation, the company developing electric aircraft for passenger transport, has signed an agreement with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to launch an air taxi service in early 2026, according to the company’s statement.

The agreement grants Joby exclusive rights to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years. The project aims to make Dubai a global leader in providing fast, environmentally friendly, and quiet air travel using Joby’s revolutionary technology. Joby’s aircraft can carry a pilot and four passengers at speeds of up to 300 km per hour. The journey from Dubai Airport to the Palm Jumeirah is expected to take only 10 minutes compared to 45 minutes by car.

In addition, Joby Aviation has also signed an agreement with the company Skyports, which will be responsible for designing, building, and operating four vertiports in Dubai. The first four air taxi service points are planned to be located at Dubai Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and the city center.
