How Exclusive Hotels Use Signature Scents to Elevate Guest Experiences

There’s always something special about the scent of luxury hotels. Many hotel brands are bottling signature scents, making them available to visitors via fragrances, candles and diffusers.

It’s widely recognized that scent is one of the most powerful senses when it comes to our emotions. That’s why some scents feel so comforting, and others have the ability to evoke powerful memories and to transport you back in time to happy times. When you walk into a fancy hotel and take a breath one of their fignature fragnances, you instantly link that scent to the hotel. Fragrances can not only link the scent to the location, but also tie together the scent with all the memories associated with your time at a five-star hotel.

How the hotel develop its scents?

Atelier Rebul

Some, like Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus collaborate with perfume experts like Atelier Rebul, renowned for its fascinating and iconic fignature fragnances. The exclusive new collection carries the signature scent of the “Blue Bosphorus Breeze,” seamlessly bringing the distinctive accommodation experience provided by Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus to homes. This limited-edition collection comprises exclusive items, including a 500 ml reed diffuser, a 210 gram candle, and a Miniature Home Kit featuring mini versions of these products.

Another iconic property that collaborated with Atelier Rebul in Istanbul is Çırağan Palace. The elegant scent of geranium and violet and the elegant note of the lily flower was created in 2022.

One more interesting collaboration of Four Seasons is collab of Hotel Ritz Lisbon Eau de Parfum and perfumer Lourenço Lucena and is a composition that pays tribute to the unique relationship between the iconic Ritz Hotel and Lisbon, its home since 1959.

The Society of Scent

Andaz hotels announced a new collaboration with The Society of Scent in 2019, an olfactory collective which includes a proprietary fragrance creation laboratory led by Jean Claude Delville. Together, the Andaz brand and The Society of Scent  created a series of individual scents based on elements of each property and locale that are most resonant.
