easyJet Opens Route to Nantes

The number of direct routes from French destinations to CPH has grown from seven to 10 inside two years. In the spring, Nantes will be added to the route map when easyJet commences flights to the historic city by the Loire. This does not just mean more travel opportunities for Danes and people in southern Sweden, but also more French tourists in Denmark.

The new easyJet route commences operations on 2 April 2019 with three weekly departures: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. A couple of months ago, Transavia France announced their intention to also open a direct route from Nantes to CPH with two weekly departures, Thursday and Sunday.

The wealthy city of Nantes is located at the mouth of the longest river in France, the Loire – a mere 50 kilometres from the coast. The 613,000 inhabitants are not just proud of their cuisine, the wonderful architecture of the city, and the many historic buildings in the Loire Valley and beautiful castles such as Saumur, Villandry, and Chenonceau to the east of the city, but also of the famed novelist Jules Verne, who was born in Nantes. The city is also an excellent starting point for excursions to Brittany, to the north-west of the city, and the amusement parks Puy du Fou and Futuroscope, one and two hours’ drive, respectively, south-east from the airport.

In addition to the city itself and the incredibly beautiful surroundings, one of the most amusing attractions is probably ”Les Machines de L’ile” in the city itself, where you find constructions of fantastic fairytale creatures with inspiration from Jules Verne and Leonardo da Vinci.
