Dubai International Airport (DXB) Expects Record 91 Million Passengers This Year

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is projected to welcome a record-breaking 91 million passengers this year, as travel demand continues to surge and local airlines Emirates and flydubai expand their route networks.

Record-Breaking First Quarter

In the first three months of this year, the hub served over 23 million passengers, an 8.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023, marking the busiest quarter in its history, according to a statement from Dubai Airports. January alone saw a traffic volume of 7.9 million passengers.

Post-Pandemic Growth

Last year, DXB recorded 87 million passengers, the highest since the pandemic, representing a 31.7% increase from 2022.

Tourism Boom

The surge in traffic coincided with a rise in international overnight visitors to Dubai, which grew by 11% to 5.18 million in the first quarter of this year, according to the Emirate’s Department of Economy and Tourism.

Continued Demand Amid Challenges

Analysts note that the demand for travel continues to grow despite geopolitical tensions, inflationary pressures, and economic concerns.
