Air Seychelles the national airline of the Republic of Seychelles has today held a press conference in Madagascar to intensify its presence in the market ahead of the launch of its seasonal flights on 3 July 2019.

Addressing the audience, Air Seychelles Chief Executive Officer, Remco Althuis said: “Earlier this year, we announced the launch of Air Seychelles seasonal service to Madagascar after an in-depth review of the market showed that during the summer months there is an increase in traffic between the Seychelles and the world’s fourth largest island.

“Establishing a direct link between Antananarivo and the Seychelles will not only boost trade and tourism in both directions, but it will also cater to the large number of Malagasy nationals living in the Seychelles who are planning to visit their friends and family at home during the summer.

“Besides, Madagascar also has a great cultural centre plus attractive flora and fauna which will appeal to leisure travellers as a standalone destination or even to holidaymakers looking to combine their visit to other islands in the region.”

The Minister of Transport, Tourism and Meteorology, Joel Randriamandranto highlighted: “To develop tourism and increase the number of visitors in Madagascar we need the support of airlines.

“Our objective is to open our skies and we welcome Air Seychelles to our island as it shows the trust between the Seychelles and Madagascar and the relationship maintained.

“I thank Air Seychelles for their support and wish that following the start of the flights we can see an more frequency of flights to Madagascar in the future.”

The media conference which ended with an open networking session provided a wider platform for the Seychelles flag carrier to increase its visibility, promote its products and further build its presence in the market.

Air Seychelles seasonal flights to Madagascar will proceed for a period of four months as from 3 July until 26 October 2019.

The twice weekly service will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A320 aircraft on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
