Dublin Airport Sets New Daily Passenger Record During Busy June

Dublin Airport handled just over 3.6 million passengers in June, a 2% increase compared with the same month last year, as the airport continued its strong summer performance and extended its streak of monthly passenger growth.

According to airport operator daa, June marked the 15th consecutive month of year-on-year passenger growth. During the first six months of 2026, just under 18 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport, representing a 6% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

Three New Daily Passenger Records

June proved to be one of the busiest months in the airport’s history, with more than 100,000 passengers passing through the terminals on every day of the month.

The airport also set three new daily passenger records. The busiest day on record was Sunday, 28 June, when 136,375 passengers travelled through Dublin Airport, surpassing the previous record of 130,477 set on 10 August 2025.

Other record-breaking days included Sunday, 21 June, with 135,477 passengers, and Friday, 26 June, when 131,605 travellers used the airport.

Summer Holidays and World Cup Travel Drive Growth

daa attributed the strong performance to the peak summer holiday season, with increasing numbers of international visitors arriving in Ireland and strong outbound leisure demand.

The airport also experienced robust growth in connecting traffic from the UK and Europe, as football supporters travelled via Dublin to attend the FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Dublin Airport’s US pre-clearance facility and extensive transatlantic network continued to attract connecting passengers.

Passenger numbers on transatlantic services increased by 9% compared with June last year.

London and Amsterdam Among Busiest Routes

The airport’s busiest outbound destinations during June were London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Manchester, Málaga and London Gatwick.

Gary McLean, Managing Director of Dublin Airport, said the airport had completed a record-breaking first half of the year and suggested the latest daily passenger record could be surpassed again during the remainder of the busy summer season.

He added that increased international tourism and strong demand for transatlantic travel continue to provide significant benefits for Ireland’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
