Norway Changes Hotels Ahead of World Cup Quarter-Final Against England

Norway’s preparations for Saturday’s FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final against England have been disrupted after the squad changed hotels in the Miami area just one night after arriving at their original accommodation.

The team checked out of The Dalmar Hotel in Fort Lauderdale after players raised concerns about persistent noise from a nearby construction site and heavy traffic outside the property.

Players Requested the Move

An official complaint was submitted to FIFA, and the Norwegian delegation was relocated within approximately two-and-a-half hours to a hotel closer to Hard Rock Stadium, where the quarter-final will be played.

“It is brutal having to move but we are satisfied with the new place and everyone is happy now,” Norway logistics manager Truls Dæhli said.

“Some people might fear that this will affect the players, but it was the players who wanted this more than anyone else.”

Focus on Recovery

Norway’s coaching staff stressed that the decision was made to optimise the team’s preparation for what is regarded as one of the biggest matches in the nation’s football history. Captain Martin Ødegaard and head coach StÃ¥le Solbakken said several aspects of the original hotel were not ideal, including noise and a lack of suitable team facilities.

FIFA assisted with the relocation, while the Norwegian Football Federation is expected to cover any additional costs associated with the new accommodation.

Quarter-Final Awaits

The hotel switch comes after Norway also dealt with illness within the squad earlier in the tournament, although team officials say the affected players are recovering.

Norway will face England in the FIFA World Cup quarter-final at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Saturday, with the winners advancing to the semi-finals.
