Passengers traveling through Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport will soon enjoy a more convenient security screening process as the airport prepares to remove long-standing restrictions on liquids carried in hand luggage. The upgrade will make Rzeszów the fourth airport in Poland to adopt advanced screening technology capable of detecting prohibited items without requiring strict limits on liquid containers.
The airport is expected to complete the installation of new-generation security equipment by autumn, bringing significant changes to the passenger experience. Once operational, travelers will be able to carry up to two liters of liquids in their cabin baggage, eliminating the need to pack toiletries and beverages in multiple small containers.
Advanced 3D Scanners To Transform Security Checks
Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport will install three C3-standard X-ray scanners at a cost of approximately PLN 11 million. The technology generates detailed three-dimensional images of baggage contents, allowing security personnel to inspect items more efficiently and accurately.
The scanners are designed to improve both security standards and passenger convenience. Unlike conventional systems, they can analyze liquids and electronic devices inside bags without requiring passengers to remove them during screening.
End Of The 100ml Liquid Restriction
The most noticeable change for travelers will be the removal of the current 100 ml limit on individual liquid containers. Following the introduction of the new scanners, passengers will no longer need to transfer cosmetics, toiletries and other liquids into small bottles before flying.
Full-size personal care products, beverages and other permitted liquids will once again be allowed in carry-on luggage, provided the total volume does not exceed two liters. The change is expected to be particularly beneficial for families traveling with children, business travelers and frequent flyers who regularly carry personal items on board.
Faster Passenger Processing And Shorter Queues
Airport authorities expect the new screening technology to significantly improve the efficiency of security checks. By reducing the need for manual inspections and simplifying baggage preparation requirements, passengers should be able to move through checkpoints more quickly.
The upgrade is also expected to help reduce queues during busy travel periods, improving the overall passenger experience while maintaining high security standards.
Rzeszów Joins Growing List Of Polish Airports
With the installation of the C3 scanners, Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport will join a growing number of Polish airports adopting the latest security screening technology. Similar systems are already operating at airports in Kraków and Poznań, while Warsaw Chopin Airport is expected to introduce the technology later this year.
The expansion of advanced screening equipment across Poland reflects a broader trend in European aviation, where airports are investing in next-generation security systems that combine enhanced safety with greater passenger convenience. For travelers departing from Rzeszów, the changes will mark the end of one of air travel’s most familiar restrictions and make preparing for a flight considerably easier.
