A new boutique hotel is set to join Austin’s hospitality scene this autumn as bohème prepares to open its doors in East Austin in September 2026.
Developed by Elysian Real Estate Group, the property is located at 400 Comal Street and aims to capture the creative energy, independent spirit and cultural diversity that have helped define one of Austin’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
The hotel will introduce two new social destinations to the area: Higher Spirits, a rooftop venue with panoramic city views, and Sacred Souls, an intimate cocktail lounge designed to bring together guests and locals.
A New Chapter for a Sustainable Building
The project sees the transformation of a former sustainable apartment building into a boutique hotel featuring 20 guest rooms and six suites.
Each accommodation has been designed to reflect a different aspect of Austin’s culture and identity, creating a collection of individually inspired spaces that celebrate the city’s creative character.
The design concept focuses on storytelling, with every suite offering a unique interpretation of Austin’s music, arts and community spirit.
Sacred Souls to Become a Neighbourhood Gathering Place
At the heart of the property will be Sacred Souls, a cocktail lounge created as a destination for connection, conversation and social experiences.
The venue’s beverage programme will feature handcrafted cocktails made with seasonal ingredients, regional spirits and locally produced beer. Inspired by Austin’s artistic and entrepreneurial culture, the lounge is expected to serve as both a guest amenity and a neighbourhood gathering place.
Developers say the concept is intended to encourage meaningful interactions between visitors and residents, creating a social atmosphere rooted in community.
Rooftop Venue With Skyline Views
Six floors above street level, Higher Spirits will offer one of East Austin’s few unobstructed views of the downtown skyline.
The rooftop venue will feature a covered lounge area, extensive seating and a 1,000-square-foot lawn designed for events and cultural programming.
Plans include live music performances, artist showcases, retail collaborations, film screenings and community-focused gatherings that reflect Austin’s creative scene.
A curated menu of wines, spirits and cocktails will complement the programming, following the same sourcing philosophy used throughout the property’s food and beverage operations.
Wellness-Focused Hospitality
The hotel’s food and beverage programme will be managed by Austin-based Nova Hospitality, the group behind concepts including The Well, TenTen and Devil May Care.
Nova Hospitality is bringing its wellness-focused approach to bohème, making it one of the first hotel properties in Austin to develop a food and beverage programme built around ingredients free from seed oils and refined sugar.
The approach reflects growing demand among travellers for healthier dining options without compromising on quality or flavour.
Expanding East Austin’s Hospitality Landscape
With its intimate scale, locally inspired design and emphasis on community experiences, bohème aims to offer an alternative to larger luxury hotels in downtown Austin.
The property is expected to appeal to both leisure travellers seeking an authentic connection to the city and locals looking for new social spaces in East Austin.
A grand opening celebration is planned for later in 2026, marking the official debut of what developers hope will become one of the neighbourhood’s most distinctive hospitality destinations.
