Mount Juliet Estate Reopens Manor House After €8m Restoration

Mount Juliet Estate in County Kilkenny has reopened its Manor House following an extensive €8 million restoration, marking a significant upgrade for one of Ireland’s leading country hotels.

Set within a 500-acre estate, the historic Manor House dates back to 1757 and has undergone a carefully managed refurbishment aimed at preserving its heritage while enhancing the guest experience for a new generation.

Suite Capacity Tripled In Major Upgrade

One of the most significant changes is the expansion of the Manor House’s premium accommodation offering, with suites increasing from eight to 24.

The redesigned rooms combine classic architectural features with contemporary finishes, creating a more spacious and refined environment while maintaining the building’s historic character.

The project was led by Dublin-based O’Donnell O’Neill Design, with a focus on elevating both guest rooms and ground floor areas.

New Cinema And Culinary Enhancements

The refurbishment introduces a private cinema exclusively for guests, featuring high-definition screening technology, marble and brass detailing, and 12 velvet armchairs with footrests.

The cinema offers a rotating programme of films, including classics, independent titles and new releases, with daily screenings scheduled throughout the afternoon and evening.

Dining has also been enhanced at Lady Helen, the estate’s Michelin-starred restaurant led by executive chef John Kelly. A new wine cave has been added, housing more than 130 labels of wine and Champagne and offering guided tastings and private experiences.

Heritage Meets Modern Luxury

The restoration has focused on maintaining the Manor House’s original elegance while introducing new experiences that align with modern luxury expectations.

The estate continues to offer a wide range of activities, including an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, as well as pursuits such as archery, fishing and clay shooting.

Guests also have access to wellness facilities including a health club, gym and indoor swimming pool.

A New Chapter For A Historic Estate

Mount Juliet Estate, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, positions the refurbished Manor House as the centrepiece of its offering, blending history with contemporary comfort.

With suite rates starting from €700 per night including breakfast, the reopening signals a renewed focus on high-end hospitality and experiential stays within Ireland’s country estate market.
