Changi Airport Group has unveiled plans for a next-generation private terminal at Singapore Changi Airport, signaling a major shift toward experience-driven luxury travel.
Scheduled to open in mid-2027, the new facility will replace the existing Commercially Important Persons (CIP) terminal and will be jointly operated with Plaza Premium Group. The concept goes beyond traditional VIP services, positioning the terminal as a hybrid travel and lifestyle destination.
Located near Terminal 2, the development is designed to cater to a growing segment of travelers seeking privacy, personalization and high-end experiences before departure.
A new standard for premium airport travel
The upcoming terminal will combine discreet luxury with curated experiences, offering a range of exclusive amenities including a deluxe lounge, private suites, a bar and bespoke dining options.
Rather than functioning purely as a waiting space, the facility is being conceived as a destination in itself, where passengers can relax, socialize or host private gatherings. A dedicated high-end event space will accommodate larger groups and tailored experiences, reflecting demand from affluent travelers and corporate clients.
One of the standout features will be Changi Airport’s first covered amphitheatre, paired with an open-air plaza designed to host everything from intimate performances to mid-scale events. This addition signals a broader ambition to integrate entertainment and lifestyle into the airport environment.
From transit hub to lifestyle destination
According to airport officials, the new terminal reflects changing expectations among premium travelers, many of whom are looking for more than comfort and efficiency. Personalization, wellness and curated experiences are increasingly shaping the airport journey.
The development will also benefit from its proximity to Terminal 2 and the upcoming Hotel Indigo, forming part of a wider transformation of Changi’s southern precinct. Together with the expanded Hub & Spoke area, the zone is expected to evolve into a combined travel, hospitality and wellness hub.
Plaza Premium Group, known for its global lounge network, will play a central role in delivering the end-to-end experience, ensuring consistency across services from arrival to boarding.
A broader trend in global aviation
The move reflects a growing trend among major airports to diversify their offerings and capture higher-value travelers. As competition intensifies, airports are increasingly positioning themselves as lifestyle destinations rather than purely transit points.
With this new private terminal, Changi Airport is reinforcing its reputation as one of the world’s most innovative aviation hubs, while setting a new benchmark for how luxury travel is experienced on the ground.
For passengers, the message is clear: the airport experience is no longer just about the journey ahead – it is becoming an integral part of the trip itself.
