Star Alliance has been named the World’s Leading Airline Alliance at the World Travel Awards 2025, marking its sixth consecutive win. The announcement was made at the Grand Final Gala Ceremony held in Bahrain, reinforcing the alliance’s long-standing position as a leader in global aviation connectivity and customer experience.
The 2025 accolade reflects Star Alliance’s continued focus on creating a more seamless journey across booking, airport processes, transfers and loyalty programmes. The organisation has consistently highlighted ease of travel as a core priority across its network of member airlines.
Star Alliance chief executive Theo Panagiotoulias said the recognition underscores the trust and confidence placed in the alliance by travellers and industry peers. “We are truly honoured to be named the World’s Leading Airline Alliance once again, especially knowing it reflects the trust of travellers and industry peers. Our focus has always been on making customer journeys feel effortless, and our lounges bring the experience to life,” he said. “This recognition belongs to the teams across member airlines and the Alliance headquarters who make that possible every day, and we’re deeply grateful to our customers for their continued support.”
The award follows earlier recognition for the Star Alliance Los Angeles Airport Lounge, which was named North America’s Leading Airport Lounge for the sixth year in a row. The lounge continues to be praised for its comfort-driven design and attention to detail, reinforcing the alliance’s lounge offering as a cornerstone of its premium experience.
Now in its 32nd year, the World Travel Awards honours excellence across global travel, tourism and hospitality. Winners are selected through a worldwide poll involving industry executives and consumer travel buyers.
