VistaJet Launches Science-Driven Sleep Program to Transform Long-Haul Travel

VistaJet, the global business aviation company within the Vista group, has unveiled its most comprehensive wellbeing initiative to date: the VistaJet Sleep program. The launch responds to a marked rise in long-haul flying across the fleet, with more than 58 percent of all VistaJet flights now crossing multiple time zones and thousands of overnight operations recorded this year.

The program is grounded in recovery science, circadian rhythm management and cognitive performance, addressing a growing need among travellers. Research indicates that more than one-third of adults experience insomnia and over half report poor sleep quality, underscoring a clear demand for better rest solutions in the air. VistaJet’s initiative brings together physiological insight, targeted cabin design and expert service to help Members arrive more focused, refreshed and balanced.

Developed in partnership with longevity physician Peter Attia, MD, founder of Early Medical and host of The Drive podcast, the program translates leading sleep science into an environment optimised for rest at altitude. VistaJet’s in-house nutritionist and a team of specially trained Cabin Hosts helped shape the protocols, ensuring the approach remains practical, adaptable and suitable for business travellers, families and even pets.

The sleep protocol begins before passengers rest. Cabin Hosts prepare each aircraft according to individual sleep schedules, adjusting temperature, lighting and sound to encourage melatonin release. During sleep, the cabin environment is kept at optimal conditions with hypoallergenic bedding and continuous monitoring to avoid disruptions. After waking, lighting transitions gradually to mimic natural daylight while hydrating drinks and nutrient-rich meals help reset circadian timing and support alertness.

According to Peter Attia, travel is one of the primary disruptors of sleep quality and circadian health. He noted that shaping light exposure, rest and recovery in-flight can create a restorative experience rather than a taxing one, and will become increasingly important as global mobility continues to accelerate.

VistaJet’s Head of Cabin Service Innovation, Gemma-Anne Jones, highlighted the expertise of Cabin Hosts who manage time-zone transitions as frequently as the passengers they serve. Their role in configuring the environment – from light and temperature to textures and subtle sensory cues – ensures that every rest window is optimised, whether a passenger is settling in for a full night’s sleep or a short reset ahead of arrival.

For VistaJet Members, many of whom include leaders, executives and elite athletes, sleep is integral to sustained performance. Racing driver and VistaJet Ambassador Charles Leclerc said that quality sleep is essential to staying sharp and maximising both physical and mental recovery amid demanding travel schedules. Industry research reinforces this, with McKinsey reporting that two-thirds of global executives are dissatisfied with the amount of rest they get and 55 percent with its quality.

The program extends beyond the aircraft through VistaJet’s Private World network of wellbeing destinations. Members can deepen their recovery with stays at Lanserhof in Europe, Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman, Zulal Wellness Resort in Qatar, Chiva-Som in Thailand and ÀNI Private Resorts worldwide. Each destination offers its own scientifically informed sleep programs, from biofeedback and theta-wave training to aromatherapy, stargazing rituals and hydrotherapy.

Sleep support is also tailored for families and pets. Child-friendly rest routines, calming environments and curated meal timings help younger travellers settle more easily, while stable cabin conditions and comfortable bedding ensure pets remain calm and well-rested throughout the flight.

With a global fleet serving 96 percent of the world, VistaJet positions its new Sleep program as the next step in redefining private aviation. The company aims to integrate science, service and design to enhance clarity, performance and long-term wellbeing – turning every journey into an opportunity to recover, reset and arrive ready for what comes next.
