British Airways passengers will soon enjoy lightning-fast internet at 38,000 feet, as the airline confirms plans to roll out Starlink connectivity across its entire fleet starting in 2026.
The partnership marks a major leap forward for in-flight technology. Starlink, operated by SpaceX, uses a network of low-orbit satellites positioned much closer to Earth than traditional systems, allowing for faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable coverage — even over remote oceans and regions that typically struggle with connectivity.
Once installed, all customers, in every cabin, will have free access to Wi-Fi for streaming, working, and staying connected — no login required.
The rollout is part of British Airways’ £7 billion transformation plan, launched in 2024, which continues to reshape every aspect of the customer journey. The airline says it has already delivered significant improvements in punctuality, onboard service, and overall satisfaction, alongside upgrades to global lounges, food and beverage offerings, and check-in experiences.
British Airways Chairman and CEO Sean Doyle described the partnership as a “game-changer” for passengers.
“We’re continuing to focus on transforming our customer experience,” he said. “Launching Starlink on both our long-haul and short-haul aircraft is game-changing for us and our customers, elevating their experience by offering seamless connectivity from gate to gate. Especially on short-haul, this will really differentiate us from our competitors.”
“With our new Wi-Fi powered by Starlink, our customers will be able to enjoy lightning-fast, low-lag internet from the moment they board to the moment they land – even over oceans and remote regions. It’s Wi-Fi that feels like home, even at 38,000 feet.”
The move positions British Airways among the first major European airlines to adopt Starlink technology, signaling a new era of inflight connectivity where streaming, video calls, and cloud-based work become part of the standard flying experience.
