The Russian hotel brand Cosmos Hotels is entering the Cuban market for the first time. In December 2025, a new five-star resort, Sierra Cristal by Cosmos Hotels, will open in Holguín.
The management agreement was signed during the Tourism Territories Forum (FTT-2025) held at the Irina Viner Palace in Moscow. The document was signed by Cosmos Hotel Group, a leading Russian hotel operator and an associated partner of ATOR, and Gaviota S.A., one of Cuba’s largest tourism companies.
The five-star Sierra Cristal resort was completed last year and features 640 rooms across three categories: Standard, Junior Suite, and fully accessible rooms designed for guests with disabilities. The hotel occupies a 13.4-hectare site with its own private beach.
Located 25 km from the town of Antilla in the province of Holguín, the resort sits on the Atlantic coast. The nearest international airport, Frank País International Airport (Aeropuerto Frank País), is 114 km away.
Among the hotel’s dining options are the main restaurant La Estancia, seating 450 guests and serving international and Cuban cuisine, as well as three à la carte restaurants (Isla Bonita, El Olivo, and Sazón), the Las Palmeras snack bar, a lobby bar, and bars by the pool and beach.
The entry of a Russian hospitality brand into the Cuban market marks a significant step in strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries and expanding the international presence of Russian hotel operators.
