Turkish SunExpress Launches New Direct Flights Between Izmir and Porto This Winter

SunExpress, the Turkish low-cost airline jointly owned by Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, has announced the launch of a new direct route linking the Turkish city of Izmir with Porto. The service, which will operate twice a week, is set to begin on November 5.

According to information released by the airline, the route will be flown on Boeing 737 aircraft, with round-trip fares starting at €99.99. Tickets will be offered in flexible package formats designed to meet different traveler needs, giving passengers the chance to tailor their experience and save more.

For Porto, the new connection adds another international link, while for Izmir it opens the door to more European visitors. SunExpress highlights Izmir as a vibrant Aegean destination with a relaxed coastal atmosphere, where history, culture, and natural beauty come together along the Turkish Riviera.

The airline also notes that Izmir serves as a gateway to some of Turkey’s most iconic sites, including the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ruins of the classical world, and the nearby House of the Virgin Mary, an important pilgrimage site.

With this new route, travelers will have easier access to both Porto’s dynamic cultural scene and Izmir’s historical and coastal attractions, just in time for the winter season.
